“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. they must be felt with the heart.” Quote Hellen Keller Has God ever asked you to walk away from it all? To give everything up and walk in a totally different direction? That is our story. It all started three years ago when God starting working fervently in our hearts. In fact God did a complete overhaul and did the impossible, transforming our hearts. It all started with a prayer. God I pray that your desires will be my desires. I pray my heart will be filled with what you desire for me. Be careful what you pray for. That prayer opened the door for God to do something amazing. It allowed him to orchestrate the impossible. God asked me a very tough question, “Will you allow me to be the one to fill you with more of what I have planned for you? Will you trust me to lead you to the best life ever?” What God was asking us to do, was a tall order. He was asking us to walk away from the life we had been working toward, that we had built over … Read More
Have you ever wondered what you can do or say to someone who has just lost a loved one? What we say and don’t say to those who grieve, can make a big difference in the lives of those who are going through hard times. Sometimes there are no words that can take away a person’s pain of their loss, but there is something you can always do. You can always love. Your Loving actions can have the most impact in the lives of those who are grieving. One of the biggest lessons we learned after our son passed away five years ago, was to share the love we have in our hearts for him with others. When we do, it helps us come alongside others who have gone through the same thing just like God has done for us. “He Comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 MSG How to Come Alongside Others who are Going through Hard Times:1. Through Prayer- … Read More
Have you ever been in a situation you are concerned about that causes you to start spinning the wheels of worry? That then takes you down paths of ‘What If?’ I have been there many times. I’ve discovered these paths usually lead to no where good; only add more Worry, Doubt, Fear and Anxiety. Worry creates a vicious cycle that takes away our ability to enjoy life’s present moments. Worry is our way to try to control the situation and to try to handle things on our own. Even though we know worry will never change our situation, we still do it. The only thing worry does is take away our joy and steal our ability to be present in the present. Our situations will happen whether we worry about it or not. Worrying will never add a single hour to our life (Matthew 6:27), nor will it change our circumstances. There will always be something to worry about. How we respond to our situations, will enable us to enjoy life’s present moments. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34 It is easier said then done … Read More
Moving to this great state only a couple of years ago, I can’t help to take in all of it’s greatness, it’s beauty, and magnificence. As a newcomer to this state, my fresh eyes see things that capture my attention and can’t help to notice as I venture through this great land, all the biblical references. Alaska itself lives up to it’s name meaning, ‘the great land.’ I can’t help to think how this great land relates to Moses and the Israelite’s wandering in the desert for 40 years, for God to lead them to ‘the promised land.’ As the looming physical darkness of our winter season approaches, there has also been a presence of spiritual darkness lurking in our great land. Every day there seems to be news of another shooting and murder. It seems that evil has taken up camp and resided here. No matter how dark the darkness, it can never extinguish the light of Jesus. In fact, the darker it gets, the brighter his light shines. Evil can never change what God has already done. Our God is bigger and cannot be defeated. It is true that evil is present in our state. But truth is, … Read More
