He is so Holy…

Second week of studying with my friend as we journey through some of the attributes of God. As we move through the scriptures, I continue to be amazed at the insight and overwhelming pictures that I get impressed on me as we dig into these beautiful aspects of God.

We just finished with God is Holy…oh what an unmatchable time of worship—to be able to get a simple understanding of the holiness of God…it makes me speechless.

Holy—Spiritually perfect or pure; sinless; deserving of awe, reverence, adoration—

Exodus 15:11

“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”

Immediately, as I read the first verse given, songs of awe resonate in my brain–

From the first moment that I read this verse it brought me to a place of causing me to deeply desire to worship—and as I began to read, I didn’t even make it past this first verse for the first two days because all of my insides demanded that I worship—and so I did! I turned on a couple of worship songs that I feel God placed on my heart and I just sang and praised.

Peace…bring it all to peace

The storm surrounding me

Let it break at your name

Still…call the sea to still

The rage in me to still

Every wave at your name

Jesus, Jesus, you make the darkness tremble

Jesus, Jesus, you silence fear

Jesus, Jesus, you make the darkness tremble

Jesus, Jesus

Breathe…call these bones to live

Call these lungs to sing

Once again, I will praise

Your name is a light that the shadows can’t deny

Your name cannot be overcome

Your name is alive forever lifted high

Your name cannot be overcome

1 Samuel 2:2

“There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”

Psalm 77:13

“Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?”

Psalm 99

“The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he! The King in his might loves justice. You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt the Lord our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he! Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also was among those who called upon his name. They called to the Lord, and he answered them. In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them; they kept his testimonies and the statute that he gave them. O Lord our God, you answered them; you were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their wrongdoings. Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy!”

Psalm 111:9

“He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name!”

Isaiah 5:16

“But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.”

Luke 1:49

“For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”

Revelation 4:8

And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Revelation 15:4

“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

In the handful of scripture that was given…my mind just exploded with pictures of how awesome my small understanding of creation is—through pictures, through experiences, through science…

Everything was created to worship Him…the God of Creation…

The galaxies pulse…the mountains sing…the oceans breathe…every creature moves to worship…

Everything…everything I can think of…including me!

Oh my Father God—the beauty of your holiness astounds me—my words of awe feel so insignificant because you are so great and divinely holy… Everything…all the heavenly beings…all the earthly beings—we all bend our knees to your holiness…and it is so good! My heart resonates with joy to be able to whisper praise and I thank you for blessing me with such a beautiful glimpse into this aspect of you. Holy Father—draw me closer to you…help me to grow greater every day in my love for you. …help me, Loving Savior to be a living testimony of your heart and love in this world—may I be a child in your family who is blessed with your eyes to see the places you are already moving and the direction that you desire I go. Help me to trust in your leading each day and I pray, may I be bold enough to bring your loving truth and amazing grace to those who you put on my heart and in my life. In Jesus most holy name.

Joyfully His,
